Each sleeper is 200mm tall, so two high gives a bed about 400mm deep.
Lining the bed
If you're growing food, many people line the inside of a sleeper bed with a heavy-duty liner before filling it.

Can sleepers be cut?
Yes, with a good handsaw or a chainsaw. Treat any cut ends with a suitable end-grain preserver.
